The holiday season has arrived. After deciding the destination: sea, mountain or city, all we have to do is find a hotel and take the train or plane tickets or prepare the car for the trip.
At this point, the last step is always the preparation of the bag, which can be rather stressfull.
So I thought I’d give you some tips to ease this chore before travel.
STEP 1: Make the list!
Usually one does not think about it, but it’s a very important step because it reduces stress. It does not have to be a shopping list, but one really needs to focus on the essentials by separating the most important from the superficial.
For air-only hand luggage, it is important to pour all liquids into clear plastic containers up to 100 ml in size which should be placed in a 20 x 20 cm transparent bag. However, the set should not exceed one liter. Caution: clamps, scissors, blunt instruments, aerosol cans or sizes other than those mentioned above must be placed in a checked luggage.
WOMAN: Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, brush, hair dryer, hair lotion, shower gel, shampoo, moisturizer, wipes, cotton stems, makeup remover, makeup.
MEN: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, comb, hair dryer, hair lotion, shower gel, shampoo, moisturizer, cotton stems, razor, shaving foam / gel.
WOMEN and MEN: Sunscreen (for the mountains or the beach), anti-mosquitoes, foam earplugs, wet wipes, medicines (with prescriptions).
First aid kit
It is important to remember the primary medicines for headaches, fever, abdominal pain and diarrhea, even for asthma and allergies.
First of all, one really needs to focus on what is essential. Remember to leave more room for t-shirts and shirts than trousers, as the former ones can be worn multiple times.
Essential for a 7-days stay :
WOMAN: 1 jeans, 1 skirt or 1 shorts, 2 dresses (evening and day), 6 (T-shirts and shirts), 1 sweater or jacket, 1 shoulder bag, 1 satchel, 3 types of shoes (walking, sandals and closed shoes), 1 pajamas, underwears at will, 2 bathing suits and pantyhose or panties at will (according to the season).
MEN: 1 jeans, 1 polo shirt, 3 shorts, 6 (T-shirts and shirts), 1 sweater or jacket, 1 shoulder bag, 3 types of shoes (walking, sandals and closed shoes), 1 pajamas, underwears at will , 2 swimsuits and 7 pairs of socks or invisible socks (depending on the season).
Obviously, whether it’s a weekend or a week, the amount of clothing varies. Before you go, consult the weather to adapt the suitcase. Make sure, however, that there are bed sheets and towels at destination, otherwise, they exist in very light fabrics.
In addition to toiletries, some essential elements should not be forgotten:
MAN and WOMAN: camera (for photography lovers), headphones, I-Pad, player, plug adapter and chargers.
In order to better organize the suitcase, I recommend you always take:
. plastic bags or cloth to store underwear and dirty shoes
. cloth bags with zip to separate things.
. souvenir bags
I would not forget anyway: 1 umbrella, 1 book (or e-book), 1 notebook, 1 pen and 1 clear plastic phone holder with shoulder strap for phone and money.
Depending on the route, choose the appropriate suitcase. There are different types: in the shape of a backpack, fabric or rigid material, but always lightweight. However, the important thing is to respect the size required by the company if you fly and especially if you are traveling with a low-cost airline because they are very strict. You may have unpleasant surprises at the airport.
Do not forget to affix the luggage tag with your details. It is mandatory.
To save space, I advise you to place your clothes, especially the most intimate, in special cloth bags. Then fold the pants in half and roll them up. In this way, they do not wrinkle and the space savings are considerable. Always put all electrical accessories in bags as well as shoes.
Always keep a space for any on-site purchase.
If you check your bag, you can expect a change of packing in your carry-on.
Valuables must always be placed in carry-on luggage.
If one have flies for several hours, I advise you not to forget an inflatable pillow and thick and soft socks to allow you to move barefoot on the plane. In this case, taking a toothbrush with a tube of toothpaste should not be underestimated.
Also, the documents are very important: check their validity before leaving!
So, it remains for me to wish you a good trip!
